I’ve gotten a bit jaded, so it’s easy to forget what a huge step forward 4K TVs are from the old CRT days. I got this for a friend who was getting rid of her ancient CRT TV. She was simply blown away by the picture quality. II was also a perfect fit for the relatively small space left in her bookcase by the old TV. With the ever-expanding sizes of newer TVs, it’s easy to forget that there are still a lot of folks out there who neither want nor need massive screens; good to see this market is still being served.Connection to her WiFi router was trivial and with TCLs special adapter I was able to connect her old analog VCR and DVD player combo with no problems. We have a 59″ Roku TCL ourselves and really like it. Setup is incredibly easy. Like nearly all other newer TVs you’ll probably want a soundbar to go with it. Roku makes wireless speakers and soundbars that connect with Roku TVs seamlessly.

great product easy to use and setup, picture not crystal clear but dosn’t claim to be either. has ethernet ports for hooking up internet. Only complaint is it did not come with 4 M4 bolts to mount (it has the ones for stands).

Everything worked great — installation, range of adjustment. It’s been holding up a 54″ TV for the past couple of months, we turn the TV to different angles in the room pretty frequently, and no signs of wiggling or loosening. I would recommend and repurchase.

The TCL 40 in Roku TV is a great value. Easy setup for me as I have been Roku Streamer for several years. This unit has a great picture quality and the right size for a small room where the TV doesn’t have to rival a drive in screen. remote is good, delivery was outstanding, it is light. The only minor detail is I would prefer a center stand instead of the widely seperated “legs” as it just fits existing tabletop tv stand. This review will be updated once I have had the set for a reasonable amount of time For now, it’s all good.

This design is very clever and works extremely well as a substitute for the original table top stand. Original stand went missing after we mounted TV to wall. Previous table top stand no longer available. Dismounted TV and wanted to continue to use it on a table top. Bought this. It is easy to assemble and secure. Works really well and is sufficient to manage a 45″ TV.

I did have to get creative with the spacers but it solved my problem of needing one foot instead of 2 legs. The TV hangs on it easily and I just have to lift it off since I didn’t need to secure it completely because it’s in my rv and I have to take it down whenever I hit the road again.

I bought this TV during a sale at Amazon. It was on sale at an incredibly reduced cost. Our family has now had it for over a month and are very happy with it. The dimensions of the TV are exactly as described, important to us since the cabinet where we placed it only had a half inch leeway ! The picture on the TV is perfect. We usually use the TV to stream or watch cable or DVD’s/ Blu Rays and are very impressed with the quality of the picture. The sound quality is also good. One thing I would like to comment on is streaming. When we stream TV using the smart feature of the TV, then the quality of the streaming is only average. I found this to also be the case with 2 other brands of smart TV which I have owned in the past . However, we attached an external streaming device, Amazon firestick, to one of the 3 HDMI ports on the back of the TV and the picture quality using the streaming device is excellent. I recommend people planning on streaming buy an external streaming device in order to maximize the quality of the streaming picture. I read some reviews commenting on the remote control included with the TV. Ours has been working fine. It still has the original batteries supplied with the device and has not given us any problems. So, to sum up, we love this TV.

Didn’t want to mount on the wall but I needed the bottom of the TV to be higher because of my Klipsch R-34C speaker. Use the third screw hole down on the TV brackets and hung the TV on the stand using the top notch on the brackets. I wish there was a channel to run cables through but its easy enough to fasten on the back to keep them hidden. I also wish it was not able to swivel, that one bolt makes me nervous but i think it’s fine. It’s a lot to ask this size of stand and it did flex a very small amount, but its metal so it will be fine. Came with several options for screws and plastic expanders, I ended up using the largest expanders.

The Roku TV is great and it is just what I needed to be able to have my handicapped spouse watch the different channels including Prime Video. The only downside is that the remote control is so small compared to other remotes that I have had in the past.

This TV delivered everything it promised, the picture quality was better than I expected with 720p, I do wish TCL offered it with 1080p. The sound was robust. I wanted a 32″ TV that could fit in the guest room and I wanted a Google TV for the voice function, I found just two TVs that fit the bill -Sony and TCL. Both came with 720p and Sony’s cost is about 3X of TCL’s. The two TVs had similar review rankings, I don’t see spending 3X to get a 720p TV, TCL was the obvious choice. I’m glad I picked TCL.Setting it up was easy but not before I made a few phone calls to their support line. Phone calls were always answered within a few minutes wait time. I’m sharing some set up details that may help others.1. This TV’s WiFi only works on 2GHz, if you try to connect it to 5GHz, the set up will go into a connecting loop.2. Test Google Assistant as soon as you have it working, don’t bother setting up your streaming accounts yet. If the voice activation doesn’t work and you know your remote is paired with the TV, the quickest thing to fix it is to perform factory reset by navigating to Settings -> More Settings -> Device Preferences -> Reset. After this, you have to set up your TV’s connection again, this only took me a few minutes.3. To set up closed captions, you need to go to Accessibility in Device Preferences to turn it on. Then each streaming APP needs to allow it, some may not have the function. You still need to turn it on with each streaming channel – press OK will also display the channel’s menu/functions while pausing, navigate to CC if the function is there.4. There are a few basic functions on the remote that are not explained. Use OK to pause and restart, use the arrows to rewind and forward, click the Google Assistant to speak, no need to hold it and no need to say “ok Google.”That’s all I can think of.

I have a 55″ TCL TV and it has been very good. I just bought a 50″ and it is great, especially considering the price. But TCL, like many other companies (like Verizon), does not change their telephone script for holidays. I called with a simple question 4 times on Friday, Veterans Day, when most companies are open. Each call resulted in a longer wait time for a specialist and I chose the call back option. Nothing. Frustrating. Three and a half hours to hold for help? NOT. Then I called again on Saturday and low and behold I received a call back and we resolved my minor issue. So I changed my rating from 1 to 4. It would be 5 if they just turned off their answering menu when they are closed! Picture very good, sound just middling. Setup easy peasy.

This TV is great. It can be assembled with one person, the TV just needs to go on a sofa while you’re putting the legs on. Very easy to put together, and is light enough to carry around by yourself. I’ve only had this TV for a day but so far, it’s been great. If you have a USB stick laying around, you can use it with the Live TV app to pause and fast forward OTA signals. All the apps are great. There are only two concerns. The Live TV app is glitched so using the Roku remote to change channels doesn’t always work. If you put a channel on for more than a few minutes, don’t expect to be able to use your remote for turning the channel again. It is possible to work around this by pressing star on the remote and changing the channel that way. And the Home button still works if you want to escape the app. The pause and fast forward functions also stop working when this happens. I’m hoping for a software update that will fix this. My second concern, although not too important, is that there is no app for the streaming service Twitch on Roku. But they took their app off of Roku in 2019 and it doesn’t look like they’ll put it back on.If you can live with those two minor inconveniences, that will probably be eventually fixed, there is virtually no reason not to pick up this TV. The picture is great, especially after you readjust the settings. For $200 this is probably the best television you can get, and may be the best 40-inch TV around. If you need apps that are not supported by Roku, you can always plug in a different streaming device such as Google TV or Fire Stick. My last TV lasted ten years. Three years was with my parents, then seven years with me. I’ve only had this for a day but I will periodically update this review every few years to give an update if the TV is still working. If this TV lasts five years or more I will be a happy customer. So far so good.

TV works and the FREE Roku channels are great. Throw in the other free services like Pluto.TV and I don’t miss cable at all.The COMPLAINT: The user interface (the remote) SUCKS!!!!!!!1) There is no number pad so you have to UP/DOWN through ALL channels to get where you want to go.2) You can hide channels but you have to do this BY HAND on EACH TV. You can’t just pull up a webpage and manage your TVs.3) There is a FAVORITES option but, it’s suffers from the same user interface drawbacks and it’s not selected by default so every time you want to use it, you have to click over to favorites.

This is our second TCL TV. We bought a 55 inch TCL about four years ago and it has been an outstanding unit. Around the same time we bought a 50 inch Sharp Roku TV that honestly neither of us was ever 100% happy with. It just seemed very unstable and glitchy with the controls and the picture wasn’t that great either. This TCL arrived in a timely manner the box was perfect and the TV was very easy to unpack and set up. Probably less than 20 minutes. The sound is good the picture is very good. The one and only thing I would improve relates to the one feature of the Sharp TV that I really did like. There is only one audio out jack which is for headphones. When you plug in headphones the built-in speakers are unenabled. That was one nice feature of the sharp TV, it had a direct audio out and a separate headphone jack so I could listen on my headphones while my wife listened on the speakers because my hearing is not as good as hers. Other than that one thing we are very happy with the TCL unit and would recommend it .

We bought this to replace a bedroom tv. Setup couldn’t have been easier. Plenty of inputs and a straightforward remote. Picture quality isn’t perfect, but it’s 60hz so it’s to be expected. (And it’s a giant improvement over the glass tube tv it replaced.) This is not a primary tv for us though. We wanted a quality smart tv for our bedroom and this nails it. I cross shopped other sellers i.e. BestBuy and Amazon had the best price.

TV works great for what I use it for – occasional use in the garage. I only use it in daylight and it’s bright enough. Picture is 1080P so you will see those pixels, but good luck finding anything else for the price.I bought this one because it was Android based, unlike many of their others which are Roku based. Both are fine but I wanted the Android. Also – all the other 32″ smart TV’s in this price range seemed to be Wifi only. I wanted to use ethernet connection and this specific one has it.

I have never heard of TCL televisions before finding this one on Amazon at 50% off. I just wanted a 4K television that was without headaches. This one is so nice. ROKU is built into it as the default, which I love. I just want to watch my streaming movies on VUDU, Netflix and whatever. Honestly, the only complaint (which may be old news) is that the internal speakers are meh. I had the option of buying the television with a sound bar, and obviously surround sound systems make the TV speakers unnecessary. I did not need any of that…I am going to watch this TV in bed with headphones. (Fun fact: listening to the TV with headphones can only be done through the ROKU mobile app…connect the app on your phone to the TV, use the “remote control” function, and there’s a headphone button on the screen. Connect headphones to your cellphone and you can watch TV while your wife sleeps (wearing an eye mask…it’s a bright TV after all)

First let me address some of the other reviews. It’s really not fair to penalize the TV itself for using a Roku system. You either like Roku or you don’t — it’s a personal preference. Personally, I like Roku and have used it for years on all my TVs. If you haven’t used Roku before, you need to understand that yes, you have to give them some personal information when you set the system up; the same way you have to do when you use cable or premium channels. If that bothers you, then don’t buy the TV. Otherwise, deal with it. Same thing with the remote control. Roku’s is simple, yet very functional. I prefer it that way. If you’d rather have a massive remote with a zillion buttons you’ll rarely use, then don’t buy this TV or use a Roku system. My only complaint with the Roku system is that the audio/visual synchronization is messed up A LOT. This has only happened on the last 2 Roku series and seems to be a very common complaint among other users. I fix it every time by simply switching channels and then going back and it fixes the problem, but, yes, it is a royal pain. I have 2 Roku sticks and 1 built-in Roku system on 3 different brands of TVs and have used these TVs in 3 different cities with 3 different internet companies and they ALL have that same problem. So by process of elimination, it is definitely a Roku issue. It doesn’t really bother me that much because it’s so easy to fix. The simplicity and full-function Roku system, the features, and lack of any other problems makes up for it. That said, however, fair or not, I did deduct 1/2 a star because of the sync problem. As for the TCL TV itself, I am very, very pleased with the product. The TV arrived quickly, well-packaged, and completely undamaged, and was easy to set up since I already had a Roku account. I did have to contact Amazon when the Series 5 I ordered never arrived (turned out it was out of stock), but customer service was extremely helpful and pointed me in the direction of the Series 4. The picture and sound are great and there are many, many settings for those who like specific adjustments. The blacks are very black and I haven’t experienced any of the picture loss at the corners or in the middle as some reviewers did, although I’ve only had the TV for less than 2 months. The TV is very heavy and solid, but will still mount safely on a wall. I bought the 75 inch, Series 4 only because, as I mentioned, the Series 5 was out of stock, but there really is very little difference between the two except they used different transistors (due to the shortage) and the Series 4 was $100 less. Both were 2021 models. I don’t do any gaming so I really can’t address those issues, but everything else seems to work perfectly. So, yes, I recommend this TV.

Hi Everyone,This is an excellent entry-level 4K TV at a good price with a 1-year warranty! I have been using this TV for over 3 months before writing any reviews or comments. I did a lot of research before buying a new TV and this was considered the best lower-cost 4K TV with Roku that was available. I Highly recommend this TV.You do need to have an Internet connection and email address to register with Roku to use all the superb streaming options. You can always create a free email account just for TV stuff if you don’t want to use your main email. You do not need to add a payment method (credit card or debit card, etc…) unless you want to, otherwise, just select to skip that. You can always sign up for additional streaming services, called channels, on the internet using your computer or smartphone and they will work when added to your Roku channels. So far, I am very impressed with the picture quality, especially when streaming any of the Roku channels (streaming services), or viewing video files, or DVD + Blu-Ray discs, or through the Live TV over the air (OTA) antenna. Anything with 720p resolution or higher looks great, very nice upscaling, and anything with HDR is awesome. Even on my low speed 5 Mbps internet connection, the streaming looks really good, yet for 4K video streaming it is recommended to have a min. 15 Mbps to 25 Mbps+ internet connection.Totally recommend using a quality surge protector or UPS (battery backup) with any electronics you care about.I suggest running a software update in the system settings after setting up the TV for the first time, it is automatic after that. Also, this TV has a large bright LED activity light that stays on disturbing my sleep which you can disable in the settings. You can also select a default startup option like the HDMI input 1 (HDMI cable box on mine), Live TV (coax cable or antenna), or the main Roku menu (the default setting), etc…Initially, I was disappointed with the HOA-required Comcast Xfinity cable service because the picture quality was not nearly as good as the streaming options, or when viewing video files from my media server or USB or DVD Blu-Ray discs or Live TV antenna. But, that is because the Xfinity Comcast cable DTA box is only at 480i and even the free upgraded HDMI DTA cable box is only at 720p or 1080i and the picture quality is just okay. FYI: Progressive (p) video format is better than Interlaced (i). I find that the cable box picture looks better at 720p or 1080i with the TV picture gaming setting enabled and it is still not nearly as good as 720p or 1080p from streaming channels or antenna or video files or discs. Any dark scenes using cable box HDMI are almost too dark to distinguish details, very annoying. I tried 3 HDMI cables, HDMI 2, high speed HDMI 2, and 4K HDMI 2.1 which didn’t help. The coaxial connection has lower resolution, but the dark scenes look better and whatever your watching will stabilize and look better overall. The only way to get higher quality video from Xfinity Comcast cable is through their free Streaming app and your Internet service provider (ISP) or by using their free TV WiFi box which I think requires using their Xfinity Internet Service (X1 Wireless TV Box (Xi5 or Xi6) or Flex streaming TV Box (Xi5, Xi6 or XiOne).Additional comments: I was surprised that a TV purchased in April 2022 and manufactured in January of 2022 did not have USB v3.x port(s) and HDMI v2.1 or newer ports although it does have an HDMI v2.1 audio Arc port, but not the enhanced eArc port. The HDMI Arc port can be used as a 3rd regular HDMI port if not used for audio. More ports would be really nice. This model has a 60 Hz display refresh rate with a 120 Hz CMI (Clear Motion Index); This is not a true 120 Hz display refresh rate, but I have not noticed any negative video refresh related issues except on low-quality videos or slower Internet. Note: Some new gaming systems may require an HDMI 2.1 port and an actual 120 Hz refresh rate. There is no Bluetooth either. Also, the included TCL Roku remote does not have the voice button, yet my $40 Roku Streaming Stick + remote has the voice button??? The Roku app on my Android phone does have the voice option though when connected to the TCL TV.And, the Roku Media Player could use some major updates and or perhaps porting VLC into Roku because I noticed that some videos either through my media server or video files on USB drive would not play audio correctly because this TV cannot handle all the various video and audio formats like 7 or 8 channel audio, yet they all play well on my computers, and the video playback navigation controls may or may not work with various media servers? The Plex media server app works well. The Roku Media Player with USB drives does not seem to recognize the exFat file system either which is a common format. Finally, I would also recommend getting an extended warranty through Amazon or through TCL.

So I was looking for a cheap 1080p TV to install in my garage over my workbench to watch youtube videos or put a game on tv when i’m out there working on stuff. Outlets are limited out in the garage (even with a power strip mounted to the wall) so I also needed a tv with a solid collection of native apps that were easy to navigate via a responsive menu. The first TV i tried was a Vizio D series and despite the picture being good – it was an AWFUL, AWFUL tv in terms if responsiveness and worse, you couldn’t even add apps! Additionally that Vizio only recognized the old 2.4 band for wifi and could barely detect a signal in the garage (my other devices out there have zero issues so it was just a bad tv overall) So back that TV went and instead I tried this one out – and so far, I’m pretty pleased despite a few nagging issues. First off, set-up on this thing is SPEEDY, the menu is straight forward and if you have a cell phone you can just do the roku account set up online while you’re standing in front of the TV. A word of advice, the ROKU account is 100% FREE to set up – you will undoubtedly see people saying it requires a credit card, etc. in the review – but these people were dunces and must have just wigged out and flown to their keyboard to write a poor review without actually just SCROLLING to the bottom of that page during the signup process and selecting “SKIP”. Yes, there’s a page that asks you to enter your banking info during Roku sign up but that’s ONLY if you plan on purchasing content (redbox rental, etc.) later on down the road on this TV. If you don’t want to put that info in then don’t! Just scroll to the bottom and hit “Skip this step” No issues! Roku reps have done a poor job explaining this as well by saying these people must be on a “Scam” site. Nope, it’s just people being dumb and not bothering to look = ) But I digress….so yes, the set up is pretty painless and the menu is very responsive – particularly for a TV in this price range and you can add apps! I was able to get Discovery+ and MLB TV on there with no issues and login times are only a bit longer than my Sony Bravia Flagship in our living room. So, what are the downsides to this TV? I found the picture quality to be a little underwhelming overall. I’ve seen some people say it’s a 720p TV, even though TCL does claim it’s FHD (1080p) – I’ve seen a lot of other 1080p TV sets that are indeed much clearer than the picture on this one. It’s not as bad as 720p but it’s not as good as an average 1080p set either. It seems to fall somewhere in between? I know there’s no such thing but that’s the best I can compare it to for anyone interested in buying this one. It’s workable for my garage purposes though as it does check all the other things i wanted (including being only about $150). Additionally, the remote is ….meh. It has a few nice quick access buttons for Hulu, Netflix, Sling, and another that escapes me at the moment but there’s NO numbered buttons on there – so if you have cable, antenna, etc. you can’t type in a channel you want to go to. It’s bizarre. Additionally, the volume is in an odd place – angled underneath and off to the side. My hand simply doesn’t find it easily without feeling like I’m going to drop the remote. The volume is about what you’d expect from a flat screen tv – not loud and slightly tinny sounding. Not the TV’s fault – only so much you can pack into these modern tv’s. I’ll probably grab a cheap soundbar on Black Friday this year to complete it. Anyway, overall, I’ll give it about 4 stars. The responsiveness and apps were seriously impressive in a TV this cheap, picture quality is acceptable, and remote was ok. But for around $150? solid!

TV worked great for a couple of days and then went black. Returning TV to Amazon not a problem. Odd thing, this was a “as new ” set and after returning purchased a brand new set at the same price as the “as new”. Problem was that no refund issued only credit/gift card within Amazon. No one to reach and request a cash refund. Did not care for this policy.Having said that, the TV is great, but not the support/return process.

Upsides:I love these TV’s. I already owned the 2016 model and actually purchased this one, the 2017 model for my sons’ bedroom but after I found out that a Roku Enhanced Remote with the ear phone jack could be paired with it and no matter if I was watching one of the Roku apps or watching our X1 service thru the HDMI, I could hear it, I quickly switched ours into their room and theirs, this one, into our room lol.I had previously been able to pair an Enhanced Remote with the 2016 model but could only listen thru the headphone jack when I was in one of the apps. If I was to use one of the HDMI outlets then it wouldn’t work. For some reason on this one, the 2017 model, I’m able to use it no matter what. Also a plus, the remote finder feature works like a charm. To activate it you must select it using the hard buttons on the bottom of the TV by pressing the center button then scrolling using either left or right buttons till you reach Remote finder and then select it using the center button again.*See Picture*The TV also has a cool feature in the picture settings within the advanced settings when you press the * key when you’re in an app or in one of the HDMI outlets, is that it has a smart contrast feature that helps give you the most clear picture automatically. You have to turn this on manually for each picture profile (Normal, Sports, Vivid, Low Power, Movie) in the advanced settings screen.*See Picture*They changed the footprint where the mount attachment attached to the back of the TV. They actually used to have this blown out footprint that made no sense because you always had to tinker with the mount to get it to attach to the TV. So you’d buy a mount and then have to almost MacGyver something so it would attach and then be good to go. Now they made to footprint the smallest, actually a lot like the default pattern of any mount (It’s 4x4x4x4). Either way they made it better and no more MacGyvering anything lol.Downsides:For me personally there is 2 downsides with this TV (when compared to the previous year)DOWNSIDE #1: From what I can notice is the sound quality isn’t quite good. I’ve tried changing the sound profile to each and every one to no avail. We would normally have the profile set to either SPEECH or THEATER with the volume set to 30 MAX and that would suffice. However once I switched TV’s with the boys we noticed that we’ve had to have the volume up way more than we normally would’ve with the 2016 model.**See Picture**The speakers are still located on the bottom of the TV just like before. Only thing I can think of is maybe somewhere within the equalizer settings deep in the OS is maybe where the problem lies…**See Picture**Also they changed where the hard buttons to control the TV are placed. On the 2016 model it was on the back right side, where the power cable is now located. Now the buttons are placed on the bottom in the center in between the speakers. They also changed the status light, also in the center both currently and previously, however they changed the colors from RED (2016) to WHITE (2017)**See Picture**DOWNSIDE #2: They changed where the cables come into the TV! **See Picture**The 2016 model was conveniently located along the back towards the bottom and was easily able to get to, especially if the TV was mounted flat on the wall, like it is in our sons’ room. Whereas in our room it’s mounted on a swivel mount it doesn’t really matter but I personally do not like that everything EXCEPT the power cable is located along the left side and the power in on the right. It screws up having the cables move when you move the position of the TV. Before it wouldn’t matter because with them along the bottom they wouldn’t move because they were in the center. Now if I have the TV facing towards the left and want to move it to the right I need to loosen the cables up prior to moving the TV. It just irks me that they would need to mess around with a design feature that worked…Other than those two things I find this TV to be both a high quality item and a good bang for your buck. It’s definitely worth it, even if you don’t use the Roku side of the TV it’s still worth buying, since you figure you’re more than likely going to drop around the same price for a normal 32″ TV might as well just get this one and you know you always have a Roku device if you need it. When we were cord cutters we exclusively used FireTV’s to stream with, but I got this TV (the 2016 one) because of the price and knowing there’s a Roku device built in if I ever needed it and I’ve yet to have a problem (*KNOCK ON WOOD!*)

I loved the TCL Roku Smart TV that I bought my wife so much that I decided to buy a second one. My wife’s TV has cable input and is the sole monitor for her Lenovo desktop. Mine uses antenna input and is the second monitor on my Asus desktop. In both cases they replaced 5 year old 26” 1080p TVs. Her old TV was an Emerson, mine was an RCA.First the things I don’t like:■ The legs, not only only a bit of a pain to attach, they are too far apart and the TV sits too low. Since the speakers face downward this effects sound quality. I replaced them on both with universal VESA legs. Her TV is now 6 inches off the surface and mine is 12. Sound quality and volume is much better, as is viewing angle. Also, the wide spacing of the legs may mean you will need to replace them, as I did, if the table or stand they will sit on is narrow.■ Input Switching. Since Input Switching takes place through the Roku menu you lose where you were when you switch. If you are watching say a YouTube video, a Netflix or Amazon movie and want to jump over to the Computer to check on say a long running update, it exists those channels rather than leaving them paused on what you were watching. This is especially a hassle on a sole monitor system when setting up those channels or the Roku itself. The same goes with using Pause Live TV.■ No VGA input. Only a problem if using an older desktop/laptop that only has VGA output. The HDMI works perfectly, even with a Display Port to HDMI cable. Audio transference is flawless.■ Antenna Tuning. Not all TV tuners are the same. I have worked with about 6 different brands all connected to the same antenna. The number of OTA channels have ranged from 28-46. The RCA being the best. The TCL sits in the middle with 34. If I wasn’t missing the local PBS I wouldn’t care. A second antenna on a splitter improved the signal enough for the TCL to find it, I now have 36 OTA channels. Unlike every other brand there is no way to manually add/delete individual channels.■ Channel Switching on Antenna. No number pad. Up/down only.■ Line of Sight Remote. This may be a bit of nit picking as 99% of all remotes are LoS. The remote that comes with the standard Roku is not. It uses 2.4tghz so you don’t have to point it at the device. If you are used to that you will need to adjust.Things that I really like:■ Low Power usage. Mine is in my “man cave” which is powered by Solar, so this is a big thing to me. When turned off it uses less than 5 watts. Other brands are in the 10-15 watt range. I had those on a separate switch, now at 5 watts I don’t bother. When on it ranges 20-25 watts. Half of what the RCA used.■ Physical Size. Being newer I knew that it was going to be thinner and lighter than anything 5 years old or more. What pleasantly surprised me is that it is the exact same dimensions as my previous 26” models. Just less edge, more screen. If you are replacing an older 26” inch and placing it in a cabinet it will fit in the same space.■ Picture quality. This is 720p but unless it is sitting right next to a 1080p you will probably not notice the difference. My wife insists that it is a better picture and sound then any previous model she has used. When compared side by side to my 1080p monitor when watching a 1080p movie, I can see the difference, but it is very slight, and it is the only time I can see any difference. Of course I don’t play high-end graphic intense games on it.■ Excellent Monitor. Not all TV’s work well as a computer monitor. Screen flickers, few resolution choices, to name two issues. The TCL doesn’t have those issues and functions fine as a monitor for daily use. Probably not for gaming though.■ Turn off LED indicator. If it is in a room where you sleep being able to turn that off is a great feature it has.■ Antenna TV. I mentioned two issues I didn’t like in this area, but these two areas make up for those two. ▪ Live Pause TV. I love this feature. Watching a sporting event, can’t wait for the commercial break, hit pause, come back and start up where you left off. You’ll need a 16gb USB stick and if you switch channels or input you’ll lose the saved programming. I’ll adjust. This feature is amazing and was an unexpected bonus. ▪ OTA Programming Guide. This is fantastic. Up to now I’ve had to use an online Programming guide like TV Guide. Now it looks just like Cable TV. The “More Ways to Watch” feature shows if that same program is available on a Roku channel as well. Another unexpected bonus. In case you are wondering, it is the legs that I took a star off for. I had to spend $20 to remedy that.If those are not an issue for you than you should consider this a 5 star purchase. I highly recommend.
