I’ve gotten a bit jaded, so it’s easy to forget what a huge step forward 4K TVs are from the old CRT days. I got this for a friend who was getting rid of her ancient CRT TV. She was simply blown away by the picture quality. II was also a perfect fit for the relatively small space left in her bookcase by the old TV. With the ever-expanding sizes of newer TVs, it’s easy to forget that there are still a lot of folks out there who neither want nor need massive screens; good to see this market is still being served.Connection to her WiFi router was trivial and with TCLs special adapter I was able to connect her old analog VCR and DVD player combo with no problems. We have a 59″ Roku TCL ourselves and really like it. Setup is incredibly easy. Like nearly all other newer TVs you’ll probably want a soundbar to go with it. Roku makes wireless speakers and soundbars that connect with Roku TVs seamlessly.

great product easy to use and setup, picture not crystal clear but dosn’t claim to be either. has ethernet ports for hooking up internet. Only complaint is it did not come with 4 M4 bolts to mount (it has the ones for stands).

The TCL 40 in Roku TV is a great value. Easy setup for me as I have been Roku Streamer for several years. This unit has a great picture quality and the right size for a small room where the TV doesn’t have to rival a drive in screen. remote is good, delivery was outstanding, it is light. The only minor detail is I would prefer a center stand instead of the widely seperated “legs” as it just fits existing tabletop tv stand. This review will be updated once I have had the set for a reasonable amount of time For now, it’s all good.

This is a fun purchase, and it is nice to have streaming options, all I can say I am glad I got the TV, and the price was perfect!

I got this as an extra tv in my craft/workspace. It has a fabulous picture, the sound is good, and it was very easy to get it set up. The price was also really reasonable.

I was pretty happy with the TV when I first bought it. The picture quality was similar to that of the big brands, but with the much lower price tag. I’ve had the TV for about a year and over the last several months I have started to experience some annoyances. There is often a lag in responsiveness when cycling through menu options. It occurs in all apps, so it definitely seems to be the TV, and not specific to certain Apps. Also, the TV will randomly shut off in the middle of a show every now and then, which is particualrly annoying when watching live sports. I don’t watch a ton of TV ( sometimes I go 5-6 days without ever turning it on), so I just deal with it. But if I was big TV watcher, I’d probably be looking to replace this one.

I bought this TV during a sale at Amazon. It was on sale at an incredibly reduced cost. Our family has now had it for over a month and are very happy with it. The dimensions of the TV are exactly as described, important to us since the cabinet where we placed it only had a half inch leeway ! The picture on the TV is perfect. We usually use the TV to stream or watch cable or DVD’s/ Blu Rays and are very impressed with the quality of the picture. The sound quality is also good. One thing I would like to comment on is streaming. When we stream TV using the smart feature of the TV, then the quality of the streaming is only average. I found this to also be the case with 2 other brands of smart TV which I have owned in the past . However, we attached an external streaming device, Amazon firestick, to one of the 3 HDMI ports on the back of the TV and the picture quality using the streaming device is excellent. I recommend people planning on streaming buy an external streaming device in order to maximize the quality of the streaming picture. I read some reviews commenting on the remote control included with the TV. Ours has been working fine. It still has the original batteries supplied with the device and has not given us any problems. So, to sum up, we love this TV.

The Roku TV is great and it is just what I needed to be able to have my handicapped spouse watch the different channels including Prime Video. The only downside is that the remote control is so small compared to other remotes that I have had in the past.

This TV delivered everything it promised, the picture quality was better than I expected with 720p, I do wish TCL offered it with 1080p. The sound was robust. I wanted a 32″ TV that could fit in the guest room and I wanted a Google TV for the voice function, I found just two TVs that fit the bill -Sony and TCL. Both came with 720p and Sony’s cost is about 3X of TCL’s. The two TVs had similar review rankings, I don’t see spending 3X to get a 720p TV, TCL was the obvious choice. I’m glad I picked TCL.Setting it up was easy but not before I made a few phone calls to their support line. Phone calls were always answered within a few minutes wait time. I’m sharing some set up details that may help others.1. This TV’s WiFi only works on 2GHz, if you try to connect it to 5GHz, the set up will go into a connecting loop.2. Test Google Assistant as soon as you have it working, don’t bother setting up your streaming accounts yet. If the voice activation doesn’t work and you know your remote is paired with the TV, the quickest thing to fix it is to perform factory reset by navigating to Settings -> More Settings -> Device Preferences -> Reset. After this, you have to set up your TV’s connection again, this only took me a few minutes.3. To set up closed captions, you need to go to Accessibility in Device Preferences to turn it on. Then each streaming APP needs to allow it, some may not have the function. You still need to turn it on with each streaming channel – press OK will also display the channel’s menu/functions while pausing, navigate to CC if the function is there.4. There are a few basic functions on the remote that are not explained. Use OK to pause and restart, use the arrows to rewind and forward, click the Google Assistant to speak, no need to hold it and no need to say “ok Google.”That’s all I can think of.

I have a 55″ TCL TV and it has been very good. I just bought a 50″ and it is great, especially considering the price. But TCL, like many other companies (like Verizon), does not change their telephone script for holidays. I called with a simple question 4 times on Friday, Veterans Day, when most companies are open. Each call resulted in a longer wait time for a specialist and I chose the call back option. Nothing. Frustrating. Three and a half hours to hold for help? NOT. Then I called again on Saturday and low and behold I received a call back and we resolved my minor issue. So I changed my rating from 1 to 4. It would be 5 if they just turned off their answering menu when they are closed! Picture very good, sound just middling. Setup easy peasy.

This TV is great. It can be assembled with one person, the TV just needs to go on a sofa while you’re putting the legs on. Very easy to put together, and is light enough to carry around by yourself. I’ve only had this TV for a day but so far, it’s been great. If you have a USB stick laying around, you can use it with the Live TV app to pause and fast forward OTA signals. All the apps are great. There are only two concerns. The Live TV app is glitched so using the Roku remote to change channels doesn’t always work. If you put a channel on for more than a few minutes, don’t expect to be able to use your remote for turning the channel again. It is possible to work around this by pressing star on the remote and changing the channel that way. And the Home button still works if you want to escape the app. The pause and fast forward functions also stop working when this happens. I’m hoping for a software update that will fix this. My second concern, although not too important, is that there is no app for the streaming service Twitch on Roku. But they took their app off of Roku in 2019 and it doesn’t look like they’ll put it back on.If you can live with those two minor inconveniences, that will probably be eventually fixed, there is virtually no reason not to pick up this TV. The picture is great, especially after you readjust the settings. For $200 this is probably the best television you can get, and may be the best 40-inch TV around. If you need apps that are not supported by Roku, you can always plug in a different streaming device such as Google TV or Fire Stick. My last TV lasted ten years. Three years was with my parents, then seven years with me. I’ve only had this for a day but I will periodically update this review every few years to give an update if the TV is still working. If this TV lasts five years or more I will be a happy customer. So far so good.

Easy to set up and use TV. Assuming you use it over Wifi without other connections, you can move it from room to room with ease because it weighs to little. Picture is fine for an inexpensive set, love have the Roku integration, and works OK as a monitor for my computer. Two things would make this better.1) Automatically turn on and change input to computer when computer is activated (as other similar sets from others do)2) Add a handle to facilitate moving the set around. All in all, good set, good features, recommended without reservation

If you see this TV at a great price, yes buy it, but read this review plus the negative reviews FIRST so you understand the quirks especially if you are coming from a Roku TV.This TV has to please several people with different wants and tastes. If you love quality sound for music, purchase a separate speaker system and use the optical for connection. If you are the only person using the TV or you are buying for public viewing for a lot of people, it’s okay. My situation is that it’s for a family of highly opinionated of adults. This TV’s life with us started out with “return it.” We’ve had the TV for a view months so I decided to write a detailed review to help the next buyer make a confident purchase. Had I understood these things I probably would have purchased a Roku TV because the family understands the Roku quirks whereas with this Google TV, the family has to learn the details of a Google ecosystem. There is a learning curve.Listen, if you want brighter colors or darker colors, take the time to make the adjustments using the supplied remote. If you want better sounding music, order a sound bar. If you want to learn more, keep reading.Like:- larger screen – like it a LOT.- some movies are 4K and can see the hairs on the actors scalp.- no streaming device needed to connect to streaming services- need TV remote and separate remote for cable tv – almost all-in-one- connected 15 minutes – just plug into electricity and connected to internet well.————-Dislike:- Legs screw in at an angle making it time consuming work. Solution: Be calm and work as a team. There is no easy workaround.- Sound has zero base and treble is blunted and dull. Cellphone speaker is better than this TV. If you’ve listened to good music then hear it on Spotify or YouTube then you’ll know how terrible the TV sounds. Solution: bought a sound bar with woofer.- Google app slows down and stops working when a lot of Amazon Prime streaming is used in a day. TV has to be turned off several times to reboot.- one family member doesn’t like the 4K because “it feels like I’m behind the camera rather than in the audience.” On the other hand, our elder with poor near vision becomes totally immersed in shows like Air Disasters. We are long time Roku users and prefer the Roku interface experience. So we don’t know if it’s the 4K that we don’t like or we are watching non 4K or if it’s the TV itself, but some shows feel artificial – just strange. HD movies look great like at the movies. Our space is small so the 55 inch is an amazing size to see small details. When watching Scenic Relaxation on YouTube in 4K, the details were surprisingly immersive visually but missing the sound because the newly ordered sound bar has not yet arrived. The feeling is as if I am right there flying on the drone. When flying through the clouds, the clouds come right at me. That’s my point – the 4K feels like I’m behind the camera instead of sitting in the audience. Some people like the behind the camera feeling but I do not. I prefer the distance myself from the camera. Maybe 4K takes some adjustment. The new generation won’t know any other viewing experience.- Google knows too much. Zero privacy. Must admit that Roku has a simpler easier to use design.- Google AI makes makes irrelevant suggestions if someone else uses my profile to watch their shows. When I start at the Home page of the TV, I’m immediately presented with YouTube suggestions. For some people, that’s great news but for me it’s awkward especially if someone else uses my profile. Google judges by the profile. On a Roku TV every user starts out equal until they open an app. The Google Home Screen looks cluttered. If you have never used a Roku TV, then you won’t know the difference. One adult family member stated that if she had known the Home Screen would be dramatically different than Roku, and the TV was her purchase, she would have returned the TV. Wow. I was surprised. I would not return the TV for that reason, but some would.- Must purchase Amazon movies on my phone first before can watch on TV. This is the most awkward and annoying feature.Should you buy this TV? The answer depends on what features are important to you like what’s your budget?Consider paying for an extended warranty (we did not) and purchasing a sound bar with woofer. If sound becomes an issue due to hearing loss, we will purchase a portable speaker system for the hard of hearing to use with this TV also found on Amazon. The reality is that the adult kids all have their own TV systems that are quite fancy and high tech, so this low tech TV was a bit of a shock to them, but highly advanced for the parents. If this TV is a gift for someone, let the receiver decide if they like it and stop complaining. Purchase the warranty and send a gift receipt. Mom says if the recipient is happy, then you be happy too.We hope this review will help you as you decide which TV to purchase. For people who are easy to please, this TV is a good purchase.Mom says new tech always starts out very expensive. By the time people pay off the debt, the tech is old and something new appears and the cycle starts again. Mom says stay within your budget and invest in relationships with family not tech unless buying stock :-)If you can’t please everyone in the family with a purchase, oh well. Life will go on.There’s always something better over the horizon. Learn to stay within your budget and make things work. Mom says read the reviews including negative reviews. Negative reviews help you understand what you are buying when things go wrong so there are no surprises. Some negative reviews also provide solutions. Doesn’t mean don’t buy. Means buy with knowledge and confidence. Mom says a lot of stuff 🙂 Cheers y’all.

TV works and the FREE Roku channels are great. Throw in the other free services like Pluto.TV and I don’t miss cable at all.The COMPLAINT: The user interface (the remote) SUCKS!!!!!!!1) There is no number pad so you have to UP/DOWN through ALL channels to get where you want to go.2) You can hide channels but you have to do this BY HAND on EACH TV. You can’t just pull up a webpage and manage your TVs.3) There is a FAVORITES option but, it’s suffers from the same user interface drawbacks and it’s not selected by default so every time you want to use it, you have to click over to favorites.

This is our second TCL TV. We bought a 55 inch TCL about four years ago and it has been an outstanding unit. Around the same time we bought a 50 inch Sharp Roku TV that honestly neither of us was ever 100% happy with. It just seemed very unstable and glitchy with the controls and the picture wasn’t that great either. This TCL arrived in a timely manner the box was perfect and the TV was very easy to unpack and set up. Probably less than 20 minutes. The sound is good the picture is very good. The one and only thing I would improve relates to the one feature of the Sharp TV that I really did like. There is only one audio out jack which is for headphones. When you plug in headphones the built-in speakers are unenabled. That was one nice feature of the sharp TV, it had a direct audio out and a separate headphone jack so I could listen on my headphones while my wife listened on the speakers because my hearing is not as good as hers. Other than that one thing we are very happy with the TCL unit and would recommend it .

I’ve never bought a new TV with such a strong adhesive tape and really the tape that came on this TV was unnecessary. Now because of it the left side is damaged from how adhered the tape was to the screen. Other than that more than I expected for the price and am pleased. Just wished I didn’t spend $200 on a TV that I just don’t need up causing damage to due to something out of my control.

TV works great for what I use it for – occasional use in the garage. I only use it in daylight and it’s bright enough. Picture is 1080P so you will see those pixels, but good luck finding anything else for the price.I bought this one because it was Android based, unlike many of their others which are Roku based. Both are fine but I wanted the Android. Also – all the other 32″ smart TV’s in this price range seemed to be Wifi only. I wanted to use ethernet connection and this specific one has it.

We bought this to replace a bedroom tv. Setup couldn’t have been easier. Plenty of inputs and a straightforward remote. Picture quality isn’t perfect, but it’s 60hz so it’s to be expected. (And it’s a giant improvement over the glass tube tv it replaced.) This is not a primary tv for us though. We wanted a quality smart tv for our bedroom and this nails it. I cross shopped other sellers i.e. BestBuy and Amazon had the best price.

My husband and I bought this TV back in April of 2020 and I use it as a TV as well as a computer monitor. We’ve had a number of Flat screens over the years and this is my first Roku Smart TV. 2.5 years later we are still happy with our purchase. The picture on this rivals that of our much more expensive set and has infinite adjustments for sharpness, color tone, and intensity to make even the pickiest person happy. The sound is very clean even at increased volumes and the Roku channel offers us enough variety that we don’t even pay for cable anymore.~ Spooky

After my TCL 55 inch Roku tv arrived defective, I sent it back (something in the software was defective, it never had any kind of picture). UPS picked it up the next morning, and Amazon credited my account the day after that (the Amazon website says 7 days after return). It turned out that I could get the Android version of the same tv delivered immediately, so I abandoned my Roku fantasy (still have no experience with it) and ordered this one. It arrived the next day. The setup was easy. I don’t have much experience with high end tvs, but this picture is more than good enough. The only criticism I have is that the remote is really small. The last 42 inch Samsung tv I bought 15 years ago cost twice as much, was two or three times as heavy, and had no internet access. I will be amazed, however, if this one lasts anything close to 15 years.

My family and friends have had TCL brand Roku TVs and I’ve always liked the quality of them. This television (TCL Google TV Model 43S446) came up for sale for around $180 during Amazon’s Prime Days, so I thought I’d give it a shot even though it’s the Google TV software model instead of the Roku TV software. The Good:The television was packaged well for good protection during shipment, it was easy to setup, and had good picture and sound quality. It does have a composite (aka: RCA or yellow/red/white) cable input which is nice for hooking up older devices. It is in the form of a 3.5mm jack though, so you’ll need an adapter (not included). It has a good antenna TV programming guide (internet connection required), I personally prefer the Roku TV antenna TV programming guide, but this one is still very good. The Ok:The Google TV software is easy enough to use, but is much more cluttered than a Roku TV interface. If you prefer a simple, clean looking, easy to use interface, then a Roku TV is a better way to go. As I said, the Google TV software is still easy enough to navigate, and no problem at all for those with sufficient tech experience. Customers in older generations with less tech experience may need more time to get sufficiently acquainted with the menus. The Bad:Those familiar with TCL Roku TVs may be fond of the live TV pause feature, which allows you to rewind and/or pause live TV. This feature works very well on Roku TVs. This TCL Google TV has a similar feature, but in my opinion it is too much of a hassle to use. First, you can’t simply rewind live TV like you could on a Roku TV, you have to actually pause it first for it to begin recording and to be able to rewind (unlike Roku TVs). So, if you miss something and want to rewind back a few seconds to see it again, you’re out of luck. As for the pausing live TV part, the remote itself has no play/pause, fast forward, or rewind buttons. In order to pause live TV you have to go through a settings-like menu, which in my opinion takes far to long to do when you want to quickly pause a show. So, if one of the reasons you want this TV is for the live TV pause feature, don’t get it; go with a Roku TV model instead. I considered returning it, because an easy to use live TV pause feature was something I really wanted, but I decided to keep it since it was such a good deal on sale. However….After about a month of owning the TV, it started to have problems. One morning it wouldn’t respond to trying to change the inputs, but that started working again eventually. The same morning, the TV tuner in it seemed to fail. None of the TV (antenna) channels would come in, every channel said “No Signal”. I confirmed it wasn’t an antenna issue or a coax issue. After turning the TV off, unplugging it for a minute, and plugging it back in it seemed to work again. So it may have been a Google TV software issue rather than the actual TV tuner hardware, but I didn’t have a way of confirming that. However, TV tuners have been around since essentially the invention of television. Even the newer digital TV tuners have been around since, at least, the late 2000’s. Since the technology is well established, that should be one of the last things you have issues with. So, for me, that was the straw that broke the camels back. I didn’t want to take the chance of having more issues in the future, so I decided to return it since it was within the return window.

So I was looking for a cheap 1080p TV to install in my garage over my workbench to watch youtube videos or put a game on tv when i’m out there working on stuff. Outlets are limited out in the garage (even with a power strip mounted to the wall) so I also needed a tv with a solid collection of native apps that were easy to navigate via a responsive menu. The first TV i tried was a Vizio D series and despite the picture being good – it was an AWFUL, AWFUL tv in terms if responsiveness and worse, you couldn’t even add apps! Additionally that Vizio only recognized the old 2.4 band for wifi and could barely detect a signal in the garage (my other devices out there have zero issues so it was just a bad tv overall) So back that TV went and instead I tried this one out – and so far, I’m pretty pleased despite a few nagging issues. First off, set-up on this thing is SPEEDY, the menu is straight forward and if you have a cell phone you can just do the roku account set up online while you’re standing in front of the TV. A word of advice, the ROKU account is 100% FREE to set up – you will undoubtedly see people saying it requires a credit card, etc. in the review – but these people were dunces and must have just wigged out and flown to their keyboard to write a poor review without actually just SCROLLING to the bottom of that page during the signup process and selecting “SKIP”. Yes, there’s a page that asks you to enter your banking info during Roku sign up but that’s ONLY if you plan on purchasing content (redbox rental, etc.) later on down the road on this TV. If you don’t want to put that info in then don’t! Just scroll to the bottom and hit “Skip this step” No issues! Roku reps have done a poor job explaining this as well by saying these people must be on a “Scam” site. Nope, it’s just people being dumb and not bothering to look = ) But I digress….so yes, the set up is pretty painless and the menu is very responsive – particularly for a TV in this price range and you can add apps! I was able to get Discovery+ and MLB TV on there with no issues and login times are only a bit longer than my Sony Bravia Flagship in our living room. So, what are the downsides to this TV? I found the picture quality to be a little underwhelming overall. I’ve seen some people say it’s a 720p TV, even though TCL does claim it’s FHD (1080p) – I’ve seen a lot of other 1080p TV sets that are indeed much clearer than the picture on this one. It’s not as bad as 720p but it’s not as good as an average 1080p set either. It seems to fall somewhere in between? I know there’s no such thing but that’s the best I can compare it to for anyone interested in buying this one. It’s workable for my garage purposes though as it does check all the other things i wanted (including being only about $150). Additionally, the remote is ….meh. It has a few nice quick access buttons for Hulu, Netflix, Sling, and another that escapes me at the moment but there’s NO numbered buttons on there – so if you have cable, antenna, etc. you can’t type in a channel you want to go to. It’s bizarre. Additionally, the volume is in an odd place – angled underneath and off to the side. My hand simply doesn’t find it easily without feeling like I’m going to drop the remote. The volume is about what you’d expect from a flat screen tv – not loud and slightly tinny sounding. Not the TV’s fault – only so much you can pack into these modern tv’s. I’ll probably grab a cheap soundbar on Black Friday this year to complete it. Anyway, overall, I’ll give it about 4 stars. The responsiveness and apps were seriously impressive in a TV this cheap, picture quality is acceptable, and remote was ok. But for around $150? solid!

My review is more about the remote than it is about the TV because we just received the TV today. We are not perfectionists about color or sound, but the 55″ TV seems to be great for our purposes. We put it in the bedroom and it’s about 13 feet from our viewing area so we needed a screen large enough to read from that distance. This TV does that perfectly.Because this is a Roku TV it comes with a Roku remote and streaming ability inside the TV (saving you from having to buy a Roku streaming stick separetly). However, the Roku remote that comes with the TV is much worse than the remote that comes when you purchase a Roku streaming stick. For starters, the TV’s remote has no microphone so you can’t use voice commands. Second, it is a slick plastic-y thing that doesn’t have the nice grip on the streaming stick’s remote, which makes a big difference when you’re fumbling around in the dark trying to use the controls. I hated it so much that I used a Roku streaming stick I already had and paired it to the new TV which allowed me to use the much better remote that came with the streaming stick. However, I really wanted to avoid having to use more than one remote – one to change channels and another to turn the TV on and off. After digging around a bit I found a way to do that. First, you need to pair your streaming stick Roku remote to the TV (google how that is done – quite simple). Next, you need to tell the TV to use your streaming stick Roku remote to turn the TV on and off (instead of using the remote that comes with the TV). This is done in the TV’s settings. Here’s a great article on how to do just that. https://support.roku.com/article/115013019828In case the link above breaks, simply go to your TV’s settings, click Remotes & devices, then click Remote, then click Set up remote for TV control. This allows you to turn the TV on and off with the same remote you use to change channels. Finally, when you turn the TV on with the newly programmed remote it looks for you to click the source of the port where the streaming stick is plugged. It just sits on the that HDMI icon. At first I thought I was would be stuck using the TV’s remote to click the HDMI icon (clicking with my programmed remote didn’t work.) TLC’s website has information on how to program the TV to automatically accept the HDMI port but their information is out of date. All you need to do is click one of the arrow buttons (other buttons may work but I know the arrow buttons work). So now you can turn on the TV, click an arrow button, and voila – you can use a much better Roku remote than what comes with the TV.I’m a technological clueless grandma and I made it work, so anyone can. The TV was delivered on time and was packaged very well. The stand has small rubber grips which makes it fairly stable, but I wouldn’t rely on just those little feet if I were placing the TV on a piece of furniture and doing aerobics in front of it.

I’m writing this review from the perspective of someone whose last TV was 11 years old (40″ LCD flat screen)That means absolutely everything is better than my last one. I’m not a pixel peeper, so instead I’m going to talk about the value and address some concerns from the point of view of someone who isn’t comparing this TV side-by-side with like-priced models.Let’s get one thing straight: I gave this TV 5 stars because it is a terrific value. I honestly don’t know how this level of experience is delivered for this low of a price and I can only hope its durability is such that it will last many years.Display:If you’re looking for your friends to be absolutely wowed by the picture on your TV I hope you don’t think you can get away with spending $350. More likely is they’ll be shocked when you tell them it was only $350!I was concerned because I saw a bunch of reviews say the viewing angles were terrible. I honestly don’t know what they’re looking at or what their expectations are, but I wouldn’t want to watch a whole movie at more than a 45 degree angle from the screen, anyway. (A note: I have a 500sqft apartment so the 55″ TV is dominating in size and there’s limited seating)Sound:It’s not offensive, but it’s not great. However, I suspect that anyone buying a 55″ TV for a living room already expects to provide supplementary speakers.I will say I have an old set of computer speakers w/ sub-woofer and they provide great sound even just plugged into the headphone jack on the TV, so this needn’t be an expensive or high tech endeavor.Remote:This is the worst part of the whole experience. Prior to buying this TV I had a Roku Streaming Stick+ and the TV remote is made of cheaper plastic, it’s a flimsier build, the play/pause button is smaller, and it doesn’t have the rubberized coating of the SS+ remote. It may also be IR(?) whereas the SS+ remote is all RF, so you have to point the TCL Roku TV remote at the TV for it to register input.I strongly advise spending the $20 or so to replace the default remote but it’s not as high of a priority as the speakers, probably. (Personally I was able to pair my Roku SS+ remote with my new TV so that is what I use)Roku:As a smart TV platform this is the best I can imagine. It’s the most widely supported TV/OS platform on the market and therefore nearly every app will be developed for and available on your TV. This means you’ll likely not need to buy or install any additional streaming devices in your HDMI ports (I have a Chromecast installed but I already owned one).Antenna use and Live TV Pause:The antenna reception is excellent. There may be a sizable internal antenna helping out here because I get way better reception on this TV even when using my old antennaLive TV Pause of antenna use is available. I haven’t tried it, but it says if you put a 16GB or larger thumb drive in the USB port the TV will provide up to 90 minutes of buffer for pausing live TV over antenna. That’s neat and something I didn’t see advertised. In summary:Whatever shortcomings there are here are appropriate and acceptable for a $350 55″ TV in 2020. Those shortcomings are overcome-able and for minimal additional cost. All of the structural things that you can’t change or upgrade are solid (mainly the display and TV platform).
