I took the chance on getting this used laptop pc. What I got? It seems brand new! Screen perfect everything works perfectly and arrived very clean unlike what a few others reported. I could not be happier for this especially at the 420$ price point. Very fast and great for what I use it for! (Mostly streaming and surfing the web)

Arrived a day early. Well packaged. Clean with no visible scratches, etc. Works fine but I wanted some features it lacked (touch screen, backlit keys, and numeric keypad) For $300 I was willing to be without them. BUT the camera is TERRIBLE. DEAL BREAKER. I sent it back and invested another $250 to get all I wanted in a new HP.

Have to use this for working on cars and need a fast, reliable computer to be able to work without stopping. This computer works perfect. I did have to update the system and drivers. I have one issue with this computer, and that’s the USB port will sometimes stop reading. Seems to be a software issue. But it’s once every couple a weeks and a restart always fixes it. Love this computer

It’s an ok laptop now after I replaced the battery. The seller refunded money to buy a new battery…After the 3rd time starting the laptop, it no longer had video. BLACK SCREEN . I had to take to a repair center for repair .. a capacitor in the power system failed . Out of pocket expense.The.screen has a dim spot like a smear mark on it.. dropping pixels obviously not inspected . The screen will eventually need replacing.Upon opening the laptop case the cooling fan was totally clogged with dirt and lint. Impossible for it to cool the CPU in that condition. The inside of the laptop was covered with dirt. Like it was used in the desert. For a laptop that was bought as Refurbished and supposed to be in Excellent condition I question if it was actually even examined or inspected.

Laptop came exactly as described. Minor scratches, nothing too drastic as it was a renewed laptop. It even had a fingerprint sensor that I didn’t even know. Very good surprise, I’m more than satisfied with the purchase.

The laptop was delivered exactly when said & it was properly packaged for shipping. So far we’ve experienced no issues. I was under the impression it was a touch screen laptop, it is not a touchscreen. There is a backlit keyboard & a webcam. I charged it up & it started no problem. the windows programs are installed. it was easy to set up. The laptop looks new, no dings or dents.I have a message from HP appear on the screen which stated the warranty expired in 2019. Weird because well ive only had it for 4 days & i purchased an additional warranty through Asurion for 2 years which hasn’t been emailed to me yet…will update. So far so good. i was very worried about the laptop after reading some reviews. amazon is by far the best value for your money. target has the same refurbished laptops for $378 & a warranty is $80. id recommend amazon anyday!

The laptop has a silver skin on it to cover up and hide all the scratches. Not very happy about that. Seems to be good otherwise.

Boots fast and functions as a new laptop should. There is no visible wear anywhere on the unit. I dinged the rating by one star only because I’m not convinced that it was cleaned thoroughly. The product description makes it sound as if it went through a rigid refurbishment. When I removed the back to add a second hard drive there was dust on the fan blades for the processor cooling fan. One quick blast of canned air solved that issue.Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase.

I bought this refurbished laptop because my previous very expensive HP laptop was stolen out of my manager’s car while on a work trip. Since this one was around $400 at the time, it’s pretty much all I could afford to replace the one that was taken. There were a couple issues I noticed after a couple days of use. It will not sleep when I close the lid. It basically shuts down every time, so I have to press the power button every time I open it. I have tried to change the settings, and they show that they are changed but the behavior of the laptop itself has not changed. The fingerprint reader does not work. I had some issues with the touchpad in the beginning, but it seems to fix itself. These things are minor to me in the grand scheme of things. I have a laptop that is very good quality for the price and it does what I need it to do for the time being. I appreciate that this is an option that has been made available for people who can’t afford a brand new laptop. I really like these HP laptops with windows 10.

Couldn’t be happier with my purchase. It’s got alot of scratches but I paid for a fair one so I expected that. Did all the updates, elected not to do the “optional” update. I just need this for recording voice over nothing heavy. I’ll update if I have any problems but so far so good.

I had this laptop like 8 years ago but it started to break down so I decided to buy a new one of the same model. They obviously don’t produce them anymore so I bought a refurbished one and am super happy with my purchase, looks brand new. It came wrapped up in plastic with brand new charger and everything as if it were brand new (look at photos I uploaded).P.S: The rating is making me give it stars on touch screen and gaming but this is not a touch screen or gaming laptop, but its excellent for casual use 5/5.

Worked well enough for what I bought it for just to stream tv shows and look through emails. However after a few months the mouse pad stopped working entirely. I can’t use it and can’t return it because the return window closed. Do not waste your money.

This is my first Laptop so I don’t have anything to compare it to and it’s pre-owned (used). My budget didn’t allow for a brand new Laptop, and this one has the i7 chip which is needed to properly run Avid Pro Tools. And it has functioned with the speed I was expecting, all errors related to Pro Tools seem to be user generated. I was hoping to find this same model with 1tb, but that wasn’t in the Amazon cards and I didn’t want to wait in hopes that one became available.Overall I’m pleased with my purchase.I noticed occasional glitches during the first 2 weeks (powering off after plug in, nothing serious), since then it has operated just fine and I’ve found the touchscreen to be much more valuable than originally anticipated. The keyboard has a lot of miles on her, but I’m not writing as book so I can let that slide. There’s really only one thing I have taken issue with and that is the battery life. Seems kinda short (roughly an hour and a half appears to be the limit).

The Laptop is much better, lighter, and faster than I expected. And it has facial recognition security too. It is faster than my work Dell XPS from the same year. More than suitable for my college freshman.

This laptop is good enough for what it is and the price paid. It fulfills the desired functions of social media, streaming services, word processing, Facebook gaming, and the like. I’ve purchased two in recent months for members of my household that found themselves on the short end of the stick. Neither has registered complaints and both have appeared satisfied with the machines. These laptops aren’t 5-star quality because they’re cheap. They’re inexpensive and you get what you pay for. They operate adequately, but they’re not spectacular. Good enough.

Decent value for the money, a bit overpriced for the age. Use it for a part time job where my MacBook didn’t do well with the programs used. The “lid” was covered with what appears to be an adhesive cover to look like new but it was already scratched out of the box. Overall decent laptop and is serving its purpose so far

I had a 14″ HP Elitebook for my last office job and I absolutely loved it. So I knew I wanted to stick with hp, but I wanted the number keypad, so I upgraded to the 15.6″ for my personal laptop. Setup was easy, moving all my personal files was flawless, and so far everything works as I was hoping!

I’ve had this for a month now, and have only one minor quibble: the trackpad is weird. Fortunately, I had a spare wireless mouse to replace it.Do search for the manual online — it’s there, and I found that I needed it when the internet connection apparently died (those lights across the top of the keyboard are buttons, it turns out, and I had carelessly turned off the internet myself).I also installed Linux (dual boot) and found that I still didn’t care for it but it cohabits well with Windows 7. I won’t say that Windows 7 is a pleasure but neither is Windows 10 and don’t get me started on ghastly Windows 11. I would still be on 7 if Microdirt hadn’t tricked — yes, I say, tricked — me into installing 10 (they promised I’d be able to revert to 7 but they lied). Now they’re flogging 11, the Son of 8.In sum, then, this is a nice second machine and a terrific bargain. The HD is small by current standards but if you’re intending to use this as your main machine, your needs are likely also small.Further note: laptops and cold drinks do not mix well! But HP has remarkably taken this into account. The keyboard sits on a barrier that protects the interior from spills; all you have to replace, in the worst case, is the keyboard. Replacements are cheap, and installation instructions can be found on the internet. All you need is a small phillips screwdriver and about 10 minutes.

I was very happy with the price and performance of this tablet/laptop, but highly disappointed that the HDMI and the left USB port as well as the USBC port all simply do not work. Unfortunately, I did not realize this until it was too late to return. Also, the system tends to crash after long use. Blue screen of death means I can’t use this device as intended for programming and writing music. Very disappointed that this fast i7 machine is now just a streaming movie player and web browser.

Item was a little scratched up and heavy and boxy. Clumsy opening mechanism Ram was too slow did not know that I had to load Windows on it externally. Took a very long time to load Windows. Good as a beginner computer but not up to some applications I need it for. I would rate it total 5 out of 10.

– HP EliteBook 840 G3 sold by “95 Computer”- The questionable bare minimum packaging this laptop came in was an immediate concern. The laptop showed up in a small, never-designed-for-a-laptop box floating/banging around inside wrapped in a single layer of thin, popped bubble wrap.- No screen protector between the keyboard+screen. The laptop’s screen has a clear print from the stick mouse on the keyboard, This is why laptops are normally shipped with a piece of material between the keyboard and screen.- Clearly a used laptop, hair in various areas on the laptop including stuck to a sticker affixed to the external power supply.- Laptop won’t turn on. While not turning on out of the box on battery isn’t a big surprise, the clearly dead and damaged power supply is. The power supply clearly does not work and is clearly damaged (bent) at the power connecting “Tip” that inserts into the laptop itself.”Luckily” I’m familiar with this laptop model and I think i have an extra power supply to test with. However I will have to wait to see if that’s the only issue, hopefully the laptop actually works but I have no way of being able to determine that, hence “DoA”I think it goes without saying that “95 Computer” doesn’t actually test items they ship out and despite the bottom-tier packaging I have no reason to believe the PSU connecting Pin was damaged during shipping. The damaged PSU was certainly shipped out this way.I may update this review after testing with a functional power supply.UPDATE 12-04-2021: Amazon conveniently took “plenty” of time before posting this review. My initial conclusion was correct, the laptop was shipped with a clearly broken power supply. Sourcing another power supply I was able to get this laptop up and running and the battery did seem to hold a charge OK.However i was then lead into the next problem that others have mentioned: This was not an FHD/1080 display. Just like others that have posted screen shots, this laptop (but specifically the screen it comes with) is not capable of displaying 1080, and as some are aware, the lower quality/resolution 1366×768 screen this one (i think normally) comes with is really *not* super great to look at.I’ve never actually seen an 840 G3 with a 1080 display but apparently they exist. Anyways yes just like others this laptop was advertised and specified both FHD and 1080 neither of which it actually has.For a variety of reasons when it comes to “renewed” equipment, AMZ just seems worse off than seemingly any other semi-reputable PC refurb place you can find on another popular website that sounds like day. It’s really the intentional lack of transparency and reputation of AMZ refurb sellers that makes renewed/refurb consistently more of a gamble on AMZ. Lesson learned here, *know* who you’re actually buying from on AMZ, regardless of AMZ claiming to be the ones behind the scenes. There were actually (2) additional concerns I had with this laptop, one of them speculative. According to Device Manager this laptop had a “HEYING 265GB SSD” as its primary Disk. If you research HEYING you will basically find absolutely nothing at all, no one has ever heard of this device/manufacturer period.I forgot to check and confirm but this laptop was sold as having “DDR4” which seems unlikely vs DDR3.Lastly, it seems myself as a long time reputable customer and the hundreds of dollars spent on this laptop was truly not valued by AMZ at all, because when i shipped this back (and all of this has taken a *ton* of my time) – somehow it appears i’ve been tricked into accepting the refund back entirely as an AMZ gift card, instead of an actual refund back to the card/etc.So yeah the scamming really just keeps on churning. I have no idea why it seems by-default AMZ purposely avoided refunding to the source, but nothing would be more sure to me now than this by no means being a coincidence. I’m now out that cash through the holidays. “Thanks” AMZ – I may not ever (knowingly) buy anything used/refurbished/renewed etc from AMZ *ever* again.Let this be a lesson to anyone reading at no point in time should you buy anything on AMZ that isn’t brand new, coming from a legitimately historically reputable company. They are out here taking literally *everyone* for a ride. This has burned me pretty good and i feel bad for those with less resources/capabilities than me that can’t address this similarly head-on.Image gifting a completely dead laptop to someone for the holidays then you can’t even get another one because the refund was purposely thrown onto a gift card.I think this will be the last update on this nightmare but I’ve got pictures and screen shots I could also add just in case – (as an FYI to AMZ and reseller.)

See update at end…Buying a refurbished PC (desktop or laptop) can be dicey. You never know if you’re going to get a hidden gem or an incompetently rebuilt piece of garbage. I have bought about a dozen of them, and promptly returned just more than half. This laptop is by far the most completely refurbed PC I have purchased. It looks new–the screen, the body, even the touchpad (which almost always shows wear) look untouched. It is definitely the nicest laptop I’ve had. The specs are exactly as listed, down to DDR4 memory and a battery that shows only 24 previous discharge/recharge cycles, far better than most refurbs.A word of advice for purchasers trying to figure out if a purchased refurb will work for them: -Don’t expect anything to work well right out of the box. You will have to spend some time getting it in running order. Think of your time spent as balancing the $ you saved buying refurbished! (No, this isn’t because the refurbisher didn’t do their job. Once they get everything working, they will only do a clean install of Windows. The rest is up to you, just like it would be with a new computer.) -The first thing any Windows machine when you finish the guided set up (IF you connected to a wifi or wired network) is start installing Windows updates. (You can check progress by selecting “Check for updates” from the start menu.) Until all updates are finished, it will be slow. It might even restart seemingly at random. Once you think all updates are installed, reboot and check for updates until it shows “You’re up to date”. This can take quite some time with a slow network connection, so be sure you’re using fast wifi or even plug in an ethernet cable until ALL updates are done. -While updates are installing, check the specs to make sure they are what you bought. Don’t assume. The built-in Windows System Information app is a good place to start. There are lots of free apps for reporting on the HDD, memory, and battery. Check Google. If ANYTHING seems off, ask the seller about it. If you don’t like the answer, return it! -Next go to the manufacturer’s support website and install all available driver updates (including BIOS!). I can’t oversell the importance here. Many manufacturers have an app you can download to streamline this process (for HP it is HP Support Assistant). NOTE: If something stops working during this step (function keys or bluetooth are the most likely things to stop working), Google away until you find a solution. Someone has run into the same problem before, and the solution is probably there to be found. -After these steps, you should have a fully functional computer. Test it out and see if it actually meets your needs. If not, contact the seller. If you aren’t happy with the response, return it!One word of warning: the touchpad is textured. I can see this bothering some people, but I kind of like it. It makes it really easy to move the mouse precisely vertically, in line with the lines of the texture.I hope this helps someone who is on the edge about whether to buy this or not. Thank you, seller!———–UPDATE: After using this laptop for a couple of weeks, I thought I should add an update. I do wish the display was a bit better. The colors wash out easily, especially at lower levels. It’s also worth noting that the processor on this model is not listed as compatible for the Windows 11 upgrade. Not a big deal to me, but worth noting.

Good laptop! I would recommend this. There are a few caveats and some problems (though I suspect this was just bad luck) but first the arguments for it.-well packaged. The unit came strapped tight under stretch plastic and was securely packaged for transport.-good physical condition. I would agree that this is “A” grade in its overall physical condition and marks of wear. It could be characterized as “gently used”.-decent battery life still. I get a good 4 hours of life from the battery despite the age of the platform (2016) under “normal” usage. Word, excel, browser, some YouTube.-6th generation Core i5 platform with USB-C. This alone makes going for 6th gen (over 5th and 4th) worth it.-Smart card reader. This is very useful to me (and one of the primary reason I went for this HP series of laptops) as my organization uses smart cards extensively. Now for the “cons”.-screen is not 1080p despite being advertised as “FHD”. It’s your usual low-grade, washed-out looking “HD” panel with 1366×768 (these laptops are built using a wide variety of options and parts). Not a deal breaker, but just so you’re aware, you may not get an actual 1080p panel (which is what “FHD” means).-Large decal on the lid. Kind of baffling, the lid has a decal that covers the entire lid. It has a “brushed aluminum” appearance and texture to it. Makes me think that the lid might have ugly mark(s) on it that the decal is covering. Not a deal breaker, just an unusual thing for me to see.-Damaged SSD. The laptop came with a bad SSD. The refurbisher utilized a 256GB Adata SU650 SSD that initially worked, Windows 10 got set up and rebooted, but then would keep going into chkdsk (storage check for data integrity) and upon scanning it, come to find out, smart errors/bad blocks. I swapped it out for a Western Digital Blue 512GB SSD and then everything was fine. All in all, for $350 this laptop is a good value for what you get in return. If the SSD hadn’t been shot, and if the panel was 1080p instead of half HD, this would represent an outstanding value. But as it is, this is okay.

The quality is great! We are using the laptop for virtual school. Ours came with some minor scratches on the corners, but that’s worth the $250 I saved on a new machine, and was included in the description. It’s a refurb, so I expected this. The machine updated to Windows 10 easily. Our keyboard was not backlit. The screen resolution we got was the lowest on the listing.**There’s no bloat wear which I really appreciate.** The shipping was a little long, but it came within the stated time frame stated at purchase. The item was packaged **very** carefully and well insulated. There was 2 cardboard boxes, large bubble wrap, small bubble wrap, then cling film and silicone packet to keep moisture out. Overall, I’m very pleased with the purchase and impressed with the quality. This was a great buy for a portable workhorse computer for school. Not a graphics heavy machine, but the other specs are great for most applications besides heavy gaming. The overclocking can handle light gaming (not MMORPG).

The HP 8440P is a great business class unit with its maximum 8GB of RAM, as well as a 1TB hard drive installed. There are 3 USB 2.0 ports on the left but also a PCMCIA slot into which you can easily add a USB 3.0 express card. Another great feature is the eSata port on the right side next to the Gigabit ethernet port. I’ve been able to plug in an external hard drive in the eSata port to do clone backups of my current OS configuration. It is a fast, quiet laptop with a decent screen and many other features too numerous to list. But you can see them all, as there is an online PDF manual for the unit. I’ve got two of these now: one with Windows 10 and one with Windows 7 Pro, both 64 bit. Very happy.

The computer works well, but it came with an unverified copy of windows so we can’t use a lot of the features without purchasing the full product. Also, my son can’t leave it unplugged for more than 30 minutes before the battery dies.

Biggest piece of crap and a waste of money. Throwing your money into the garbage would do you just as much good as this computer does. The mouse keep switching between the touch pad and the keyboard mouse, keep getting battery error even when the battery is fully charged, the screen resolution changes itself every time the log in picture changes. I’ve never had to run system recovery so much on a pc in my life as I have on this just to get it back to usable condition. I’m buying a new computer and going to give this one to my brother to use as target practice cause that’s about all it’s worth.

This HP EliteBook 8440P laptop was likely used by corporations back in the day. It’s business class, and mine came with features beyond my needs such as a security card reader and a fingerprint scanner. I found out upon receiving mine from the great seller whose name I feature in my review’s headline that the webcam is only optional, but I didn’t mind not getting one since I wouldn’t have used it anyway. At any rate, let me tell you what every HP 8440P should have that the average home user would enjoy: To the right of the power button are little button lights that toggle on/off things such as your default Web browser, the WiFi, sound to mute, and volume + or -, etc. And this laptop has both a thumbnail mouse with its left/right click buttons on the very nice keyboard, as well as a touchpad. Two microphones are at the top of the LCD on the left and right (tiny holes) and a push open/close keyboard light on the right center area, and the webcam with a little indicator light will be on the left center if yours comes with one.On the left base of the unit, there are three USB 2.0 ports to the right of a cooling vent, a 4-pin firewire, and a 54mm PCMCIA slot, which I inserted an old 34mm USB 3.0 card into and was able to get it working. There are el-cheapo 54mm USB 3.0 cards you may find here on Amazon, so that’s definitely a plus thing to add. And the audio ports (mic and headphones) are below the PCMCIA slot.On the front base by the lid button is an SD card reader slot and two speakers, on the left and right. On the right base is that smart card reader I mentioned, an optical drive bay in which mine came with a DVDRW drive, an eSata port I plan on using to plug a matching hard drive into so I can clone my Windows 7 installation. My seller, by the way, provided a 1TB hard drive and 8GB of RAM with a Windows 10 upgrade installation, but I still run Windows 7 and did a fresh install and used the Windows 7 COA on the bottom of the unit. You may want to ask your potential seller about what OS is installed… but I digress. There is also a Gigabyte Ethernet network port and a modem port on the right.Last but not least, the bottom allows for two batteries!, a SIM slot?? (way above my retired pay grade to describe), vents, as well as easy access hard drive bay and memory module compartment.Overall, I’d say as a former corporate technical support technician that this is the best used laptop you can get in this current $200 price range. Some may find their units to be slow, but my seller did real justice selling it with the 8GB of RAM, which makes tooling around Windows and programs on this 2.4GHz system a decent experience for anyone with home user needs.Hope this helps!

ok…this was a mistake purchase. i am sorry for so few stars, but the seller was not very honest about the specs or how it works. apparently this had a BIOS issue, and graphics card gray screen errors. nothing huge, but also someone said it was apparently not designed to work well with windows 10. well then gee whiz just put win 7 back on it. good machine but just not for me. ty again

My laptop arrived in very good condition, except for a dead battery. Itsappearance was like new. The screen was bright with a non-glare finish. Thekeyboard was in excellent working order, in fact, everything worked: sound, DVDdrive, all of the ports, WiFi, and the microphone. My model did not have awebcam. Even the installation of Windows 7 Professional activated without ahitch. The HP Elitebook 8440p, with an Intel I5 chip, is a true little workhorse. Itruns fast for most tasks. Since I don’t play games, I can’t evaluate how wellit would work, but that is not what it was built to do. Surfing the web andplaying videos it handles without working up a sweat. It can do so much morethan a Chromebook for the price of a Chromebook.I tested it with several Linux Distributions and it was very compatible withthem, except for Robolinux, which could not see the WiFi card. Having Linuxcompatibility was a big plus for me.Considering the price I paid for this computer, I would have rated it 5 starshad it not arrived with a battery that was completely dead. I contacted thecompany and they immediately responded that they would send a battery. Sinceno battery has arrived, and they have not responded to my follow up email, Ican only assume that they don’t care about my satisfaction. That’s too badbecause I would have given them an unqualified positive opinion. Fortunately forme it was only a battery, something for which I could find a cheap replacementhere on Amazon. Had it been something else major wrong with the computer, Idon’t have any confidence that it would have been taken care of. Knowing whatmy experience has been, I do not think that I would spend a lot more than what Ispent to buy a “certified refurbished” product. Makes one wonder what is meantby that term when they can ship a computer with a dead battery. Sorry to say,but this is simply a gamble. Your mileage may vary.
